Prey - Talos I Lobby

This post is part of our series of tips for Prey by Arkane Studios. It's not meant to be a comprehensive walkthrough filled with boring common-sense or easily-discovered points of interest, but things that might be tricky or that are easily overlooked.

Whenever you come back to the Talos I Lobby from another zone, you can expect a Phantom roaming the ground floor and possibly a Mimic near your Office. Theoretically you could repeatedly farm them for Exotic Material.

Maintenance Access Only corridor
  • (Slide 1) If you are careful you can shoot this gas pipe without falling down.
  • This leads to an alternate entrance to your office, but really only once you get the General Access Keycard.
Morgan Yu's Office
  • You can smash your Looking Glass and repair it with a Utility on your Terminal on the desk.
  • If you are coming from Hardware Labs and don't want to go through the Teleconferencing Center to get back to your office (maybe there are enemies there or you turned on the fire hazard near the door), you can jump onto to art exhibit (Slide 2) and run toward your office. Smash the glass if you like and jump in.
  • I often leave a not-deployed Turret one floor below at the stairwell to help with any Mimics that are triggered to spawn outside the Office. This often happens when you return from another area.
  • It is actually possible to destroy January. This triggers a mysterious quest update and if done early enough can prevent it from destroying December. However, overall not having January just diminishes the gameplay experience of Prey by removing a lot of content.
  • The side quest "Mikhaila's Father" ends here.
    • Interestingly, Mikhaila has several lines that activate the Utility on the workstation but she'll only say one (presumably since one is enough).
Psychotronics Foyer
  • You can unlock this door with the Huntress Boltcaster on the terminal before you get the General Access Keycard. The safe inside requires Hacking II but contains four Neuromods. So for the net cost of one Neuromod, you can get Hacking II very early. If you get too may electric shocks from failing, there are two Water Fountains nearby to restore your health.
Staff Lounge
  • If you come here with the Psychoscope, you might see some interesting situations regarding Mimics (Slide 3): (Slide 3 left side) You might be able to see the object that is a Mimic, but the Psychoscope might not. Even a slight change in position or a change in object orientation can result in successful detection (Slide 3 right side).
  • Slide 4 shows another example.
Teleconferencing Center (Slide 5)
  • This is the room opposite Morgan Yu's Office, and I like to keep it locked and leave gas pipes lit. Enemies that are triggered to spawn inside won't be able to wander out; or if I can approach from that direction, enemies outside Morgan Yu's Office can't rush me and I can back off and strategize.
Restrooms floor hazard (Slide 6)
  • You can jump over this fire hazard but Phantoms and Mimics cannot. So if you can get them to chase you or at least walk through to investigate where you went, they'll walk through this hazard. Of course you are in a dead end, but you can lock yourself in one of the stalls and wait for them to leave.
I.T. Supply Closet
  • The Keycard can be obtained during the late-game sidequest "Showing Initiative" that requires some pervasive decisions throughout the playthrough.
