Warhammer: Mark of Chaos - Daemon Prince

This is a discussion of skills for a hero unit in Warhammer: Mark of Chaos v1.72. A list of all our Warhammer: Mark of Chaos articles can be found here.

Daemon Prince Skills
  • You get every skill at rank 0 as long as you fulfill the prerequisites.
  • Any skill with no skill prerequisite deserves special attention because you can bank your points and get 5 ranks of it immediately when you reach the necessary level, instead of spending your points on low-level skills you may not want.
  • Look for passive skills that require no mana, because one or two really good skills on a hero will monopolize use of the mana pool anyway.
  • Most of the skill tree is the same or renamed from the Champion of Chaos.
  • You cannot attach the Daemon Prince to anything, so you cannot use something like the Champion of Chaos Blood Sacrifice skill for healing in the field. You need potions, or to idle while waiting for a regeneration magic item to heal it. Complicating this is the fact that you cannot run, so your ability to strategically retreat is hampered.
Combat Skills
Almost all skills here are the same as the Champion of Chaos, just renamed.

(no prerequisites) > Daemonic Blast (Level 25)
  • The hero hits the ground with daemonic power damaging all enemy targets in the area with 15% chance to hit (+3% per rank).
  • Does not appear to have friendly fire effects.
Duel Skills

Same as a Champion of Chaos.

Command Skills
The key difference in Command skills between a Daemon Prince and a Champion of Chaos is that Daemon Prince skills are not attached to any particular regiment. Instead, nearby units or target units are affected, which brings up the possibility of stacking bonuses, such as ranged combat hit chance and magic resistance.

Dedication of Blood (Level 0)
  • Each successful attack around the hero has a 1% chance per rank to restore 1 HP.
  • This does work, but it's so chancy that you can't rely on it. Better than nothing. Take it to 5/5 if you ever want the Daemon Prince to level up at all since you need to be where the action is to get XP, and that means taking hits.
Deadly Eye (Level 0)
  • The hero's and the nearby regiment's Ranged chance to hit increases by 3% per rank.
Deadly Eye > Hunting Wolf (Level 5)
  • Increases the hero's and nearby unit's move speed by 1% per rank.
(no prerequisites) > Master of War (Level 5)
  • The hero's and nearby unit's chance to hit increases by 1% per rank.
Master of War > The Chosen One (Level 15)
  • Increases the hero and nearby unit's chance to hit while charging by 5% per level.
(no prerequisites) > Fate's Master (Level 15)
  • Increases the hero's and nearby unit's magic resistance by 0.5 per rank.
Dedication of Blood > Death or Glory (Level 25)
  • Increases target friendly unit's chance to hit by 20% (+2% per rank) at the cost of 40% armour (-2% per rank) for 20 seconds.
  • You cannot use this on yourself.
  • Great to use on a ranged unit that isn't being targeted by enemy fire.
