New World Battle Pass - A no-PvP guide for low level solo players

It's very possible to just binge on the Season 6 Battle Pass in New World and get it done in a a couple of weeks. I have more time per day to play than most and I even tried to weave in progress on quests and the main story quest, and there was plenty of time to complete it.

But if you joined the game mid-Season into the Battle Pass, you might be anxious looking at the various battle pass tasks. This guide is aimed at helping:
  • Solo players
    • Because you can't always depend on the server being busy at the time you are playing for other people to be there to help. (However when more players are in an area, enemies respawn more quickly, which can be advantageous for certain battle pass tasks.)
    • We will assume that you have to do everything solo with no one around.
  • Low level players
    • Because you might have joined the game late and feel you have to grind to endgame quickly to do various Battle Pass tasks.
  • Players who don't want PvP content
    • And we will not be using any exploits or win trading to accomplish battle pass tasks, although if you have a friend on the same server you theoretically could.
The Journey Chapters (slide 2) are a different matter and do basically require you to be at endgame for the later Chapters. There are some tasks you can finish but you need to finish Chapters 4 and 5 for any really good rewards. We have an article about Season Journey Chapters here. Meanwhile, the Activity Card provides much faster progress.

Activity Card

  • The Activity Card is basically a type of bingo on a 4x4 grid. If you are strategic with how you use it, you can complete all 16 positions quite quickly.
  • The first Reroll on your Activities list is free. The next one costs 100 Azoth, which can be a lot for a low-level player.
    • Once you are fighting strong enemies however, they start to give Azoth and you will usually be at or near the 2500 cap even if you extensively use Fast Travel.
    • Nevertheless, if you are careful with how you use Stamps on your Activity Card, you should be able to finish a card with just the one free Reroll.
    • On your very first Activity Card, you may have trouble since you start with no Wild Stamps. If you don't want to spend Azoth on a Reroll, try to finish any four Activities and Finish the Card to get a fresh card without Reroll cost.
      • Generally we want to finish all 16 tiles because you get 3,450 Season XP for a full card due to bonuses compared to 16 tiles (800 Season XP) on multiple cards with no bonuses.
  • Do NOT use your Stamps (especially Wild Stamps) right away. Instead, accumulate a few and then look at your card to see where you can put them.
    • If you have no Wild Stamps, get one as soon as possible by finishing any row, line, or diagonal.
    • Then, try to put Stamps so that by using a Wild Stamp, you can get a Wild Stamp back. See Slide 3 for an example:
      • On slide 3 you can see that the bottom row has two stamps already. If I complete the row I will get a Wild Stamp. So if I do the easy "Kill Enemies with Magic" Activity, I can put a "crossed swords" stamp on the bottom row, then use my one Wild Stamp on the "flask" stamp to complete the row, giving me one Wild Stamp back. Net cost is 0 Wild Stamps.
      • Then the third column will have three stamps, with the "shield" stamp being the last. A "shield" Activity is almost always endgame PvE so I can use a Wild Stamp to finish that Activity and also get a Wild Stamp back.
      • Once I do that I can actually finish the rest of the Activity Card with just Wild Stamps, although I would only have 2/3 Wild Stamps to carry over to the next Card.
  • Wild Stamps carry over to the next Activity Card. This is important to help you get a good start on each Card. Try to finish each Card with 3/3 Wild Stamps.

Tips for Activities

  • Catch 150 lbs Fishing
    • An active Fishing Hotspot can really help here, but you might end up wasting too much time running around looking for a Hotspot that is actually active.
    • Instead, ocean water where you can cast to a Deep point can give you reasonably fast results because the catches are generally heavier. You might even get an Anchor which is worth 55 pounds.
      • Slide 4 shows a picture of casting into ocean from shore with a low-level Fishing Pole and still hitting "Deep" water.
      • Slide 5 shows where this was done, offshore from a tutorial beach. The tutorial beaches for Monarch's Bluff and Windsward are almost the same so you can do this at either location, as well as some other ocean locations.
  • Gather Tier 5 Resource Nodes
    • The title is misleading and suggests you need to get a gathering skill up to 200 so you can gather actual Tier 5 nodes.
    • You actually get progress whenever you are gathering and you collect a Tier 5 resource. So the easiest way to do this at a low level is to chop Banana Trees. They are plentiful, you don't need any skill progress in Logging to do this, and you have a chance to get Bananas, which are Tier 5.
  • Heal 5000 Damage
    • To do this in a controlled environment you can use a Void Gauntlet Harvest Essence ability (hold block) which drains Health. Then swap to your Life Staff to heal back up.
  • Kill Angry Earth Enemies
    • There are not many low-level Angry Earth enemies on the map, but the main story does eventually introduce you Rames in an icy cave (east of the Shattered Obelisk in Everfall).
    • Cascade Cavern in Windsward (slide 6) has a lower-level cave with similar monsters.
    • The boss can be challenging, so if you can't handle it, you can try waiting for the smaller enemies in the cave to respawn and carefully pull one at a time with a ranged weapon.
      • If you are only fighting these enemies, Hari's Hollow (slide 7) has a good number as well as interesting Mining nodes around to pass the time waiting for respawn.
  • Kill a Named Enemy
    • There is a "shield" stamp version of this.
    • This one can be quite confusing since some named enemies like the ones at the tutorial beach area do not advance the Activity.
    • A convenient place to do this is Traitor's Hold in Monarch's Bluff (slide 8). Helvan qualifies for this Activity, and is spawned by a triggered Event with a fast reset in the pirate cave rather than regular respawn timer. After the event, a teleport marker appears so you can get out easily to a location near the Fast Travel point to the south.
  • Kill Enemies with (Weapon Type)
    • It may be a bug, but both weapons you have equipped get credit. You don't need to hit the enemy with both weapons, just one of them. You may need to have assigned a Weapon Mastery point to each weapon however.
