I'd been involved in Palia's closed alphas previously, so it's exciting for me to see the game finally enter public beta as they aim for a free-to-play no-subscription launch later in 2023. At this time, their monetization model is entirely about the fashion cash shop rather than barriers to players wanting all their friends to join them in community in the game.
You can create a Palia account now, in preparation for the August-2 closed beta and August-10 open beta. At this time, they are promising no progress wipe after the betas.
There is also a referral program. It awards only cosmetics, and only up to five cosmetics. No in-game currency or other "payment". Your friends must complete at least the onboarding sequence and will get a little goodie basket to help them along.
