Game Review - Escape Academy DEMO

Game Review: Escape Academy DEMO by Coin Crew Games
Score: +2/-1

Full gameplay demo versions of games are great and really a necessity these days. They (hopefully) let you have a proper experience of what the gameplay will be like, unlike a non-interactive trailer video that might have "creative cuts" to give you a more exciting and engaging experience compared to how the game actually plays.
Welcome to Escape Academy. Train to become the ultimate Escapist. Solve Puzzles. Hack Servers. Meet the Faculty. Brew the perfect cup of tea. Escape Rooms in single player or co-op with a friend - local or online!

  • +1 Plays just like a real world escape room. So if you like plausible mechanical puzzles for your escape room type gameplay, This is it. Includes lots of objects you can inspect but which have no bearing on the solution -- just as you can inspect everything in a real life escape room thinking it might be useful.
  • +1 Decent puzzles solvable in decent time.
  • -0 Implausible backstory, but that is sort of a necessity in order to hold everything together rather than have a disjointed series-of-escape-rooms game. I think a less connected series of puzzles would probably be a harder sell, but with just two puzzles and a peek at the game in the demo, it's really too soon to tell.
  • -1 Terrible graphics, but possibly for performance reasons to set the bar low for who has the hardware to play this game.
Definitely looks promising, especially for real-world escape room experience fans.
