The First Descendent - Void Fragment - Echo Swamp

Here are some tactically advantageous positions for The First Descendent Void Fragment Missions in Echo Swamp.

Toxic / level 36 (slides 1-3)
  • UPDATE (2024-Aug-14) It's back to the way it was, with melee enemies trying to go to your position even if they can't reach you.
    • UPDATE (2024-Aug-1)
      • The metal ledge is still a very good defensive position but melee-only enemies will no longer rush to the location underneath you. Instead, they will just stand still and if they have spotted you, will generally not even move their head to look around for you, making them handy target practice for weapons such as Sniping Rifles and Scout Rifles.
      • If you jump down, they will come closer. So if you need them closer to take some headshots, jump down briefly then back up to your the ledge.
  • The metal ledge nearby is a very interesting defensive position.
    • You can grapple up but enemies cannot jump up to reach you.
    • Against ranged enemies, you  can back away and sometimes use the floor of that ledge as cover by denying the enemy line of sight. However you should still have at least a mid-range weapon or be prepared to move.
    • Melee enemies will try to go to your location, but the best they can do is stand directly under you beneath the ledge.
      • If you use Freyna, you can try to poison at least one -- drop poison on the ground and walk around the ledge to lure enemies into walking into it. Once one enemy is poisoned, walk away from the edge to get them to group together and poison each other. You can repeat this until the enemies are dead from poison.
      • Or, group them up into a tight mass then shoot them through the broken panel (slide 3) with something like Thunder Cage or a Launcher to blast the lot of them in the area of effect.
      • If you drop down from the platform into the enemies, you can do an area-effect smash -attack if you have a sub attack ready and melee-attack before you land.
    • Enemies that lose sight of you too long will wander toward the Fragment.
Fire / level 39 (slides 4-5)
  • The crates nearby are quite far from the spawn points and give plenty of time for the enemy to bunch up and be hit at mid- to short range.
Toxic / level 41 (slides 6-7)
  • The stairs down make for a good chokepoint, provide excellent cover, and leads to a long tunnel so you can keep retreating if necessary.
