This is part of our series of beginner tips for Disney Dreamlight Valley. We won't do a hand-holding walkthrough here, but instead consider approaches that might be unusual or overlooked.
Digging
- Does not appear to increase gains of Dream Shards and Night Shards.
- If you are shovelling huge tracts of land (e.g., to get snow or sand), don't worry too much about scrambling to pick up the drops that fly out. When you dig a hole and it will overlap something that can be picked up, you automatically pick up that item when the hole is dug.
- If you want to remove a lot of dug holes, you can plant Furniture on top of it.
- For example, use a Bed or Carpet and notice that when you put the bed over the hole, the squares are yellow. This means you can put the bed on top but the hole will be removed. Partially covered holes will also be wholly removed.
- Put down the Bed, then pick it up again. Notice the holes are gone. You can repeat this to wipe out all the holes you want.
- After you are done, do NOT remove the Bed, but lay it down first. If you exit the Furniture menu but also remove that Bed, the game thinks you want to undo your work and will restore all the covered holes.
- Leave the Bed in the game world, then exit the Furniture menu. Now you can re-enter Furniture mode and remove the Bed.
- Although you can get Clay in many places, at the biome where you can dig it up, it's better if you are digging near water in that biome.
