Elder Scrolls Online - Crafting Guide - Getting Vouchers

This is part of our Elder Scrolls Online Crafting Guide for New Players.

Getting Master Writs to get Vouchers is just a matter of keeping up your Daily Writs consistently. Over time, especially if you are on PC and can use AddOns to help you with doing Daily Writs on a lot of toons, it becomes very easy to get Vouchers. Just keep doing your Daily Writs and you will start to accumulate resources, advance your skills, and start getting Master Writs. You're not really doing anything different from the daily routine. It's the type of Master Writs that's useful to examine because each has different strengths and weaknesses if you are interested in accumulating Vouchers quickly.

If you are doing Sealed Writs -- especially if you have a lot of them to do -- and if you are on PC, you want to get the WritWorthy AddOn: It automates the process, saving precious time and preventing possibly very costly mistakes.

Alchemy - Very Easy, Very Few Vouchers
  • Vouchers here simply require you to have a broad array of reagents, and most of the time they don't even need to be anything particularly rare. Use the Potion Maker AddOn to find the reagents you need from the reagents you have in stock.
  • Try to spread around the completion of Master Writs so that all your maximum-ranked Alchemist know a variety of reagent traits. The more they know, the more likely they are to get a Sealed Alchemy Writ.
Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworking - Very Hard, Medium to Many Vouchers
  • Overall probably the costliest in terms of time and possibly gold if you try to buy a lot of motifs.
  • There are many lines of research, so you need a lot of completed Trait research to match up with the research required on any given Sealed Writ.
  • There are a lot of potential Motifs involved. Sometimes you'll get lucky and it will only ask for a basic racial Motif, but other times it can be something exotic and expensive to buy or chancy to find.
  • Because of the Trait Research and Motif knowledge required, it basically takes a lot of time before you reach a tipping point where you have a good chance of completing a Sealed Writ that comes your way either through Daily Writ rewards or looking through what is available in a Guild Store.
    • This is also the reason you want to focus on a Main Crafter, so that the combination of Trait Research and Motif knowledge can be concentrated on that one crafter, giving you the best chance of being able to complete a Sealed Writ.
Enchanting - Very Easy, Very Few Vouchers
  • Basically the same as Alchemy but even easier.
  • Craftstore is a great help with solving the runes required.
Jewelry - Moderately Easy, A Lot of Vouchers
  • This is similar to Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking except no Motifs are required, which immediately increases the chances of you being able to complete a Sealed Jewelry Writ.
  • There are not a lot of Traits to research and only two types of Jewelry, so that also dramatically increases your chances of being able to complete a Sealed Jewelry Writ, compared to Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking.
  • Because of the rarity of Zircon Plating and Chromium Plating, the cost of doing a Sealed Jewelry Writ can be prohibitive IF you need to buy those materials from Guild Stores. Even if you don't, you also need to decide if you prefer to sell the materials directly, or if that would consume more time than just doing the Writ.
    • Terne and Iridium costs can be mitigated by doing Dolmens for jewelry and deconstructing for the grains. So Blue writs can be viable for a while, for example to get your housing storage boxes set up early.
  • If you need a lot of vouchers in a hurry and are not worried about cost, then this is one of the fastest ways, providing you already have the skill and research required.
Provisioning - Moderately Easy, Very Few Vouchers
  • This would be easier than Alchemy Writs if not for the recipes required.
  • Typically you will require purple recipes, which are hard to get from Daily Writ rewards and expensive to buy from Guild Stores. But you don't need the time investment to research Traits.
  • Sometimes a Master Writ will ask for an Orzorga recipe. These can be obtained from Orzorga's quest chain.
