More Time in My Kingdom for the Princess

If you are playing My Kingdom for the Princess and find the game too frantic because of the time limits, you can easily mod the game to give yourself more time.

Find the directory "levels", usually in C:\Program Files\My Kingdom for the Princess\data\levels, and locate the file for the level you are stuck in. For instance, level 4-2 would be file level_04_02.lvl.

The files are simply text files. Open the LVL file in Notepad and find the lines starting with leveltime and deadline. The number that follows is the number of seconds allotted for net level time and for night time.

Because the score is calculated based on time remaining, an excessive setting on leveltime will not only give you an insane score, but it can crash the game when it loads. If you acquire a too-large score, you may find the game won't get past the title screen. If so, simply delete the hiscores.dat file. The location of this file can vary depending on your operating system but probably under the directory "Peace Craft" somewhere in "My Documents". If you can't find it, do a search for the file name.

  1. I could not save the changes. I got a window that said "access denied"

  2. @Anonymous - Check to see if the file is read-only (you would need to turn off that flag), and/or if you have the game open (which would mean the file is "in use").
